After I acquired some amazing coloured leather scraps (at a very low price!), I couldn’t wait to get started on some projects.
The very first project I had in mind was making some leather bows for my daughters’ hair.
How cute do those bows look?!?
(Well… it could be the model, but I think the bows are pretty cute too!)
I started by using the leather bow template below:
Using this template, I followed these directions to make the bows (materials and instructions included!).
Once the bows were made, I grabbed some decorative elastic. I measured the elastic around my daughters head (making sure it would be a bit snug to stay on), then sewed the ends together. I used my sewing machine, but you can do this by hand as well. I sewed the ends together, and then sewed the flaps down as well so that the elastic sat flat on the back of her head.
Lastly, I used E6000 (same glue as used in the tutorial above) and glued the bow in place, slightly off-centre. Ta-da! Now you have a beautiful decorative hair bow!
Please comment if you have any questions or suggestions :)

Where did you find that leather? I’ve been searching everywhere, and do I need to find pretty thin leather?
I actually purchased it at a local Len’s Mill Store in Canada. They sell scraps of leather for very cheap :)
