White sandy beaches. Fresh ocean breeze. A cool drink and a good book out on the deck. Oops, sorry! You caught me trying to re-live my summer vacation… *sigh*.
Is it just me, or is summer slipping by exceptionally fast this year?! Maybe it’s the pregnancy, but I’m re-living my vacation moments in hopes that I can hold onto summer as long as possible! That’s why I immediately leaned in the nautical direction when I was thinking about this Wine Bottle Upcycle. Maybe some nautical decor will help me hold onto my summer a little bit longer?

I found these beautiful denim prints at Michaels and I couldn’t wait to use them! The wine bottles… well, you can probably guess how I got those ;)

The first thing I had to do was soak, and carefully scrap off the labels from the wine bottles. Once they were clean, they were ready to make new!

Blue denim bottle

I wanted to use three completely different designs to give everyone I ton of different ideas for decorating these bottles! For my first wine bottle upcycle, I simply added some patterned denim, and glued it in place with a glue gun. Then I added a strip of white denim, and finished it off with a cute, nautical jute strong tie.

For the top of the bottle, I simple used a hot glue gun to adhere jute sting wrapped around the stem from top to bottle. I LOVE the nautical touch that jute string adds!

For the next bottle, I chose to add rope and denim flags – two more perfectly nautical elements.

Denim flag bottle

I simply cut small triangle flags with white and blue denim, and then hot glued them to jute string to wrap around the entire piece. Then I continued that jute string up the entire length of the bottle neck.

Since nothing screams nautical like rope, I used some neutral rope to wrap around the bottom of the bottle.

For my final bottle, I wanted to add this adorable tiny chalkboard that I had lying around. I drew attempted to draw an anchor on the board to stick with my nautical theme. I started by wrapping the bottle in a lovely chevron denim pattern, added a strip of lose burlap ribbon, and glued the chalkboard in place on top :)

Then, since I didn’t want to chalkboard to be the only wooden element on the bottle, I decided to add these tiny wooden sticks around the neck of the bottle (instead of jute string this time).

Now summer can live on in my home for as long as I want :)
I plan to use them in a nautical summer mantle set-up one day soon! (and by “one day soon,” what a really mean is, “hopefully I’ll get to it next year?” lol).
