Pregnancy Announcement for Family

This homemade pregnancy announcement book is the perfect way to announce your new arrival to family

I hope that everyone out there had a fabulous Mother’s Day weekend. I know I did! I’m so excited to be celebrating my second Mother’s Day as a mama, especially knowing that my next Mother’s Day, I’ll have TWO little people to make handprint art with (Thanks Pinterest for the ten thousand handprint ideas! lol). Since we are celebrating mamas, I thought I’d share one last Pregnancy Announcement for Family (that live far away!).

I created this pregnancy announcement book using my cricut maker and scrapbooking supplies

If you live far away from your parents, or in-laws, you might be like me… constantly joking about the day your parents are going to move closer! I know we are joking about it ALL the time. This is where the grand baby is! Of course they’ll want to move here! Right?! lol. (Plus, I could use a free babysitter!)

Since this is an ongoing joke, I thought, what better way to share the news that we are pregnant with our second baby than to send them a surprise book, filled with “Reasons to Move to <insert your Province/State here>”.

Materials:

Cricut Explore Air 2
Cricut pens (Gold metallic thick, fine pink, and fine blue)
Co-ordinating scrapbook papers
(I used Close to My Heart “Noted” paper collection)
Kraft notebook
Gold washi tape
Coordinating accessories

To begin, I opened my Cricut Design Space, and began choosing letters and numbers that I wanted to cut out. I synced all of the items into two colours (green and yellow below) so that all the green would print on one colour paper, and all the yellow on another.

Use the cricut design studio to format the letters for your pregnancy announcement book

I know that my handwriting is not pretty, so I was SUPER excited to using the Cricut pens to write my words straight into my text boxes. In the screenshot below, you can see all of the different boxes I chose to cut out. Then I added the words by choosing the writing tool, selecting a writing font, and typing in my text. Once you type the text, you have to make sure that you attached the text to the box underneath so that the cricut will know where you want the words written. Then print them all out!

I LOVE the Close to My Heart coordinating paper packs, because I don’t have to think about pairing and matching papers, which is usually the hardest part of scrapbooking.  They already come perfectly coordinated!

Here’s the front of the notebook that I designed with the pieces my Cricut Explore Air 2 cut out:

Then I went on to design ten more pages, each with one of the numbers I cut out on the Cricut Explore Air 2, and with one of the text boxes. The words were written on beautifully! I definitely would not have been able to write that neatly!

  1. Hi Lindi,
That is a cute idea. Quite appropriate for our family situation too. We always joke that we will wait and see where our kids settle and then move closer. :)

  2. This is so cute! I was hoping you would post pics of it.
You must be making good progress in convincing them to move… at this rate they’ll live in GP before the new baby comes! ;)

    1. Haha, I wish!! They’re not quite on board with my plan yet… Maybe the new babe will convince them :)

  3. What a cute idea! I love your tips of using your Cricut to make this. I won a Cricut last year and haven’t used it enough. I forgot all about the pen feature!

    1. The pen feature is my new favourite crafting tool! It’s SO versatile!! You should definitely try it!

  4. That is THE cutest idea ever, friend!! I hope it works ;) We know all about living far away from grandparents so I know how you feel! So exciting for your sweet lil’ family!

  5. This is the cutest idea EVER! Not that I’m pregnant or will be pregnant any time soon, but I’m always looking for future projects for my Cricut. Pinned and tweeted. Thanks so much for sharing at Merry Monday, hope to see you again next week!

    1. Awww.. thank you so much! I always have my eyes open for creative cricut projects too – I’ll have to stop by your site and see what you’ve been up to!

  6. Hi Lindi! I found your website thru Pinterest (5 ways to grow your blog). Funny coz when I opened your site I found out that we’re using the same theme! Haha! And just like you, our little family are living away from our loved ones. We recently moved here in Vancouver (also in Canada just like you. Haha) from Philippines. I started blogging to have an outlet for this new stay-at-home mom and to update our families back home on our whereabouts here (though i still have to blog more). You can check it out if you have time. Btw, congrats on your new baby! :)

    1. That’s funny! I’ve had that happen before too! Especially back when I was using a free theme! Glad you stopped by – I’ll definitely take a look at your site when I get a chance :)
