How to Make Stylish Decorative Orbs from Coat Hangers

DIY Decorative Orbs Tutorial

Happy Friday friends!! I have another great DIY video for you this morning! I collected a whole bunch of coat hangers when I made my Sunburst Mirror a few months ago, and ever since then, my mind has been spinning with DIY coat hanger ideas. These decorative orbs popped into my head one day, and I just had to try it out. After a few failed attempts… I finally found a solution that worked wonderfully! I made a few of these orbs to put all over my home and I’m excited to show you how I did it!

Start with wire coat hangers for a beautiful transformation.

I’m sharing the last few DIYs from my Industrial Guest Bedroom and one of these orbs has a permanent home on a shelf in there, so it’s the perfect time to share all the great details!

Materials:

3 wire hangers
Side cutters
Glass jar (or similar solid container)
Epoxy
Spray paint

And since it’s always easier to understand with a video, I shared the whole project with a video tutorial. Enjoy!

That’s how easy it is! And there are so many variations on this project – you could make them bigger, use more coat hangers, spray them a different colour (I see gold orbs in my future!).

If you have more coat hangers hangin’ around after this project, you may want to try this Sunburst Mirror!

I would LOVE to make this beautiful Anthropologie inspired DIY mirror for any room in my home!

  1. What a great idea! I always love the look of these, but if I can DIY them, even better :) Thanks for linking up with Merry Monday this week! I’m pinning this & sharing on Facebook.
