Hey friends! I’m back with another quick and painless #10minuteDIY for you! My lovely friends and I started this monthly series in January to share super simple 10 minute projects that anyone can do! First, I shared my Washi Tape Organizer, and then I shared a simple Modern Terrarium. This month, we were challenged to find a thrifted item and upcycle it into something new. I made this simple Industrial Chic Desk Organizer for my craft space and I love the results!
Here’s the piece I found at the thrift store. When I found it, I honestly felt like I struck thrifting gold! A beautiful little piece…. made of real wood! I couldn’t wait to paint it!
I started by scuffing up the wood so that the paint for stick well.
Next, I painted the piece using my favourite new Midnight blue paint from Fusion Mineral Paint. I always paint the insides of drawers white – I love the clean look on the insides of drawers – so I used my favourite white from Fusion too.
Finally, I added some new modern industrial hardware.
LOVE how it looks on my desk!

You made it look ten times better! Love it :)
Thank you my friend! Isn’t is a great transformation?!
Really cute piece and I love the shade of paint! What do you use to “scruff” up the finish before painting?
Thank you so much! That may be my favourite paint colour ever – love it! It’s just a sanding block. You should be able to buy one at any hardware store :)
