Cotton Baby Skirt

I’m finally getting some more good use out of that sewing machine that I got this year!
If only my grandma could move here for a few weeks and teach me her stitching skills. And while she’s at it she can pass on more of her wonderfully domestic ways.
But alas, I’m only dreaming… I’m a self-taught crafter, and learning to sew is no different.

Since I am teaching myself I’m always on the hunt for easy (read: if children could play with sewing machines they would use these) patterns and tutorials.

A friend pointed me to this lovely tutorial that gave simple step-by-step instructions that even an amateur sewer could follow. Oh! And it had a template :)
So I dove in and made a couple of adorable skirts for my baby girl!

Then I ventured way, waaay out of my comfort zone and made a skirt with two layers!!
Imagine my surprise when it turned out half decent. Not a work of art by any means, but it’s a place to start!

What shall I attempt next? Any suggestions??

Cutest baby ever, which I am pretty sure is a factual fact
