If you stopped by Love Create Celebrate yesterday, you saw that I made some adorable ornament push pins. You may have wondered to yourself, why would someone need those? Well, I’m answering that question today!
To hang Christmas cards!!
A crafter always happily accepts craft supplies as gifts, and ever since my friend gave me sheets of cork paper for my birthday, my head has been swimming with ideas for how to use them – including these cork Christmas card trees :)
Materials:
Styrofoam Trees
Cork Paper
Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
Scissors
To begin, cut your cork into 1.5″ width strips.
Once you have all of your strips cut out, begin gluing the bottom strip. The 12″ strip in length fits perfectly around the bottom of the tall styrofoam trees. Find the middle of the strip and glue it in place, line-up with the bottom of the tree.
Then wrap the cork piece around the tree so that it sits flat, and glue it in place. The cork strip will be angled downwards toward the bottom of the tree. After the strip is glued in place, you can cut off the edges that hang below the bottom of the tree.
Continue this process all the way up the tree, overlapping the strips of cork as you go up. As you move up the tree, you will have to cut the cork pieces shorter, so that the ends still sit at the back of the tree.
Your ends will all line up at the back like this tree :)
They are definitely not as pretty from the back… lol.
That’s it! Now you have a cork tree to fill up with beautiful Christmas cards!
I repeated this process with several trees so that I could make a little card forest. I used 4 different sizes of trees.
Now you can get out your push pins and attach your Christmas cards!
Here’s how I set up my cork Christmas card trees with my red and gold decor :)
Can’t wait to fill up my trees with new Christmas cards this year!
