7. Learn to curl my hair – Check!

IMG_9675

Can you believe that I spent 28 years of my life not knowing how to curl my hair?!?
Seems absurd to most women, I fully recognize that!
But in my defence… I grew up with a mother with short hair, three brothers and a best friend with beautifully flowing natural curls! I had no one to learn from. And apparently I wasn’t as resourceful in my teenage days as I am now.

So I added “learn to curl my hair” to my 14 of 14 goal list, and I taught myself!
My husband gave me a wonderful 1″ curling iron for Christmas. I gathered a few tools – heat protector, hair clips, hair spray – and got started!
Curling my hair definitely reinforced just how thick my hair is. My first attempt took somewhere between the 1 and 2 hour mark (perhaps closer to the latter…), leaving me wondering if learning to curl my hair would be worth it!
For a girl that use to get up 10 minutes before her alarm clock and run out the door, 2 hours in the morning was starting to seem like a huge waste of my time!
But I persevered. And it got easier and faster.
And every time I completed my hair, I loved the end results! So maybe it is worth it.
After 5 or so successful (much shorter!) hair curling sessions, I’m happy to call this goal complete :)

I agree! Absolutely stunning, your hair looks perfect! And I hadn't realized how long it's gotten!

I love those curls! Gorgeous! Have you tried straight iron curls? I found it to be a lot quicker than a curling iron..but maybe that was due to my poor hair curling skills :)

I haven't tried it Lis. Mostly cause I'd have to buy another new tool and Russ just bought me this one! But my hair dresser uses it and I don't think it's that much faster now that I'm better at using the curling iron :)
